About
This site is based around my nickname, rich rock. I’ve been called that ever since I became a Christian all of eleven years ago. I’ve been through enough ups and downs, and at the moment I’m on an up.
I have a girlfriend for the first time in 16 years, which is great (and so is she!). One of my friends who started a design company has recently been able to employ me as his web developer, specifically for Content Management Systems. So I’ve been on a learning curve, developing my CSS, PHP and Dreamweaver skills , putting them to good use.
On the weekends, I like to chill with my babe, plus occasionally go mountain biking in the local mountains, as here we are surrounded by seven peaks, but only four of which are any good for regular riding. I also enjoy photography, of which I’ve posted a selection on the Photography page. I use a Nikon D40 now, as I used to do photography primarily through film, using Minolta cameras, Fuji film for colour, and Ilford for Black & White. Now I do all of my shooting with the D40, a selection of filter and lenses, then post process them using the GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program).
I enjoy music, mostly ambient and electronic stuff, which quite a few friends say is too strange for them. Open your ears I say!
I take a fairly active role in my local church, I am on the PA team, and I also help out a couple of times a week with our youth groups, and will often teach in the Sunday school. I believe in a dynamic, living God and this should be reflected in both the passion and style in which we are taught, and as such I try to encourage as much interactivity as I can.
I enjoy using fountain pens, and have two Parker pens, a Parker Frontier, and a lovingly restored Parker 25, with a fine nib. And I mean FINE…. My dream pen is a Namiki Bamboo or a Nakaya Urushi Cigar Piccolo. In that order.
That’s my life. I hope you like my site.
